Welcome to my blog at The Rabbit Universe! Caring appropriately for your rabbits is most important for their health. Rabbits need clean water, appropriate pellets, and hay. I like to feed my rabbits Timothy Grass Hay, it does not fatten or make your rabbits gain weight. It fills them out so if your meat pen is overweight and you have to limit their food intake, grass hay will make sure they do not become fat but will ensure they do not become malnourished.

Water, obviously, is the most important element in rabbit survival. You can water bottles or automatic nozzles. I have a nozzle system set up in my rabbit cage with PVC pipe connected to a hose for an automatic water dispersing system. You can always just go to the store and purchase a water bottle to fill and clean often.

Grooming is important to ensure that your show rabbit (or just to look good) has lustrous and shiny fur. For Satins and Californians, all you need to do is grab a clean spray bottle, fill with water and moisten your rabbits fur and your hands. Rub opposite from the way your rabbit fur lays down. This will help remove the rabbits dead or falling out fur to help grow in new fur (molting). Molting is when rabbits lose some fur, up to three times yearly. Check out this video for how I groom Brownie.
